What is man down alarm?
Man down alarm is a sensor based alert system for detecting device movement and non-movement and launching alert based on the predefined man down settings. When lone worker device's man down settings are met, the device makes automatic call and sends the lone worker device position to predefined numbers in case the user is unable to trigger alarm manually.
When the lone worker falls or is unconscious, the launched man down alarm automatically calls for help. Man down alert system is a useful solution especially in lone worker jobs like construction, cleaning, maintenance, security and many other industrial environments where lone workers face risks of falls, slips, trips, violence, exposure to dangerous vapours, electric shocks and assaults.
How does man down alarm work?
TWIG lone worker man down alarm devices support man down alarm triggered by 4 independent alert triggers: device orientation, non-movement, free fall and impact.
Alert is launched when predefined parameters are met. In order to minimize false alarms or missing alarms, the man down settings need to be carefully matched with the usage scenario and environment. The user needs to be trained on man down function and also on understanding its limitations.
TWIG lone worker alarms can be configured for different man down situations. The man down settings are in most of the cases related to the carrying method of the device. When carried following the defined parameters, the TWIG lone worker device detects the man down situation correctly and sends man down alert.

ManDown alarm triggered by falling AND no movement
Alert in horizontal position and no movement
Horizontal + Motion Sensitivity Enabled: TWIG SOS cycle is launched when device main axis orientation deviates from absolute upright position more than Tilt Angle (in degrees), AND detected device movement (acceleration) falls below a threshold value defined by Motion Sensitivity.
ManDown alarm is triggered when both rules are met:
-
device main or beam axis orientation deviates from absolute upright position and
-
device movement falls below a threshold value defined by motion sensitivity.
TWIG SOS cycle is launched when device main axis orientation deviates from absolute upright position more than Tilt Angle (in degrees).

Alert in vertical position and no movement
Vertical + Motion Sensitivity Enabled : TWIG SOS cycle is launched when device beam axis orientation deviates from absolute upright position more than Tilt Angle (in degrees), AND detected device movement (acceleration) falls below a threshold value defined by Motion Sensitivity.
ManDown alarm is triggered when both rules are met:
-
device main or beam axis orientation deviates from absolute upright position and
-
device movement falls below a threshold value defined by motion sensitivity.
ManDown+ alarm triggered by falling OR no movement
ManDown++ triggered by free fall or impact
The TWIG lone worker man down alarm devices supporting ManDown++ feature alerts the ARC also in situations of a sudden impact or free falling.
Man down alarm devices for industrial environments

TWIG One with optional belt clip
TWIG One tightly fastened on belt is the best wearing option for man down alarm triggered by device position deviation on fall.

TWIG One Ex with optional belt clip
TWIG One Ex fastened on belt triggers alert when device orientation changes from defined position.
Wearable man down devices for service industries

TWIG Neo with belt clip
TWIG Neo clipped vertically on belt enables the man down alarm triggering when person falls and device turns into a horizontal position. See on video!

TWIG Neo worn on wrist
TWIG Neo worn on wrist as safety watch enables the mandown alarm triggering when person is not moving. Mandown alarm triggered by device orientation or impact doesn't work properly when device is carried on wrist.

TWIG Neo worn as pendant
TWIG Neo carried as pendant is constantly hitting the body which may cause false alarms when impact is set as man down alarm trigger.
