GeoSentric Oyj’s (NASDAQ OMX: GEO1V), TWIG business unit, today
announced the launch of its next generation, GPS/GSM personal
protection device – The TWIG Protector.

Created to protect lone workers, the vulnerable and those needing
access to emergency care, the TWIG Protector is shock and water
resistant, light and extremely easy to use. In addition it can
communicate with all TWIG™ devices and support systems using both SMS
and GPRS Mobile Phone Telematics Protocol. When operated in
conjunction with the TWIG WebFinder (www.twigworld.com), the TWIG
Protector provides a fully integrated, mobile communications and
protection solution, that can be used anywhere in the world.
“The TWIG Protector can be used straight out of the box, offering
immediate protection and peace of mind to the owner and care worker.
The discreet nature of the device coupled with the ability to monitor
a situation remotely through the TWIG web-top service, allows those
under our protection to feel safe and secure in the knowledge that
when the alarm on their TWIG Protector is activated, help can be
there in a matter of minutes, rather than hours.” said Tomi Raita, MD
of TWIG.

The TWIG Protector is being sold both directly to companies and
government organisations and via third party distributors and
retailers, including mobile network operators and medical and care
safety equipment manufactures.
The TWIG Protector device is small (18mm x 45mm x 94mm), light
(approx. 90g including battery) simple, safe, robust (ATEX-approved
for use in potentially explosive situations) and very easy to use.
Comprising a dedicated ergonomic SOS button, a power On/Off button,
four pre-programmed quick dialing buttons, an answer / End call
button and a display for device and operation status, the TWIG
Protector is a Tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900) unit with built-in GSM
and GPS antennas and can operate at temperatures ranging from minus
20°C to 50°C.

Ideally suited for protecting lone workers, the TWIG Protector’s
built-in, Man-Down-Alert functionality incorporates user-operated and
automated alarm and emergency messaging services. In the case of a
fall or non-movement, a call to predefined numbers alerts emergency
rescue services, with accelerometer functionality within the device,
automatically transmitting the location of the device.
In the case of personal protection, the TWIG Protector’s panic button
can be pressed and information on the position, direction and
movement of the device is sent to a pre-defined telephone number
establishing communication with rescue, security and/or care
services.

For those requiring long-term care, the TWIG Protector in conjunction
with a wristband and home docking unit, offers a fully operational
home care system. The alarm button within the device can be activated
with a voice call and/or panic button, alerting a care centre or
emergency service to track and trace the device in the shortest time
possible.

For care-workers, friends and families of those requiring long term
care, the TWIG WebFinder offers peace of mind by providing real time
information, such as status and location of loved ones in possession
of a TWIG Protector, wherever they are in the world.
