BS8484

British Standard BS8484 is a Code of Practice for the provision of Lone Worker Services. The part 5 of the standard refers to devices or services which enable an alarm to be raised.

Responsible employers use BS8484 compliant lone worker devices and applications. The early purpose of the BS8484 was to decrease the amount of false alarms wasting the Police precious resources because of the huge amount of false alarms. The British BS8484 standard is the basis on which Police respond to lone worker systems, so it's important for employers to choose a supplier who works to these standards. A Police response cannot be guaranteed by a supplier who isn’t audited and certified to BS8484.

TWIG personal safety alarms are compliant with the requirements of the section 5 of  BS8484:2009 when implemented in a compliant alarm receiving centre.
